Role Overview

RTW Investments is seeking a Research Assistant. In the role of Medtech Research Assistant, you will participate in a variety of data collection, analytical and corporate access workflows integral to the Medical Technology Team’s research process.  Our Asset Selection Division works with and supports both public and private companies as well as academics and entrepreneurs by sourcing promising investment opportunities.  Within Asset Selection, the Medtech team focuses on novel innovation within the medical device, life science tools, diagnostics, and digital health sectors.

This position is full-time and reports to the Managing Director, Research Analyst.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect data from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, literature, scientific and medical meetings, key opinion leader interviews, social media, news outlets / aggregators, financial databases and corporate data rooms / filings
  • Assist in deep dives on targeted investment questions (e.g. clinical data, regulatory / reimbursement, competitive landscaping, market sizing)
  • Present results clearly in multiple formats, including but not limited to creating slide decks, building and maintaining data spreadsheets, and summarizing key takeaways from call transcripts
  • Contribute to and facilitate weekly 1x1 and group team meetings
  • Track corporate access events / conferences and manage meeting requests (30+ events per year)
  • Maintain a list of banking contacts and online portals for corporate access and written research, respectively
  • Build and execute robust tracking and data management processes to track upcoming meetings and events (such as corporate earnings calls and R&D/analyst days)
  • Manage relevant external and collaboration projects as needed (e.g. research vendors, medical conferences, internships)

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Life Sciences preferred
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Enjoys constant exposure to new information, is detail-oriented, and highly organized
  • Thrives in a fast-paced team environment with the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting and support of multiple team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Must be able to work from our New York City office

Compensation & Benefits

  • In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $120,000. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
